Know what to do before you have to.
Your Parents Keeper teaches adult children how to plan, manage, and survive caring for aging parents. Education, coaching, and community, built by someone who was blindsided too.
We're not a home care agency. We don't send aides. We make sure you never make a big decision unprepared.
If it's 11pm and you're searching "what to do when a parent needs care," you're in the right place.
Nobody trains you for this. One phone call, one fall, one diagnosis, and suddenly you're expected to understand Medicare, evaluate memory care, referee your siblings, and keep your own job. All at once, all tonight.
The midnight search
Karen chose her father's rehab facility from a Google result at 12:40am, because the hospital gave her four hours to decide. There were three better options within ten miles. Nobody told her how to compare them.
The drawer
Margaret's daughter found the DNR in a kitchen drawer, two days too late. The paperwork existed. The conversation never happened.
The bill
David's family spent $84,000 on care his mother qualified to receive for a fraction of that. Not because they were careless, but because nobody explains the system until you're already inside it.
None of these families did anything wrong. They were unprepared, because everyone is. That's the problem we exist to fix.
Built for the person everyone else is counting on.
The designated daughter or son
You're the one the family calls. You're working, maybe raising kids, and now managing a parent's care on top of it. You don't need inspiration. You need to know what to do Tuesday.
The family decision-maker
Power of attorney, health care proxy, or just the one who shows up: you're making calls that affect everyone. We help you make them with information instead of guesswork, and bring your siblings along.
The planner-ahead
Nothing's wrong yet. But you've seen the early signs, or watched a friend go through it, and you'd rather have answers before you need them. You're the family we most love to meet.
Three steps from overwhelmed to organized.
STEP 1
Find where you are
Take the two-minute quiz. Caregiving has seven stages, and the right next step depends entirely on which one you're in.
STEP 2
Get the plan for your stage
Each stage has its own guide in the Caregiver Compass library: the decisions ahead, the paperwork that matters, the costs to expect, the conversations to have now.
STEP 3
Never decide alone
Join a community of people in the same season. A live webinar and a support call every week, questions answered as they come up, and when the stakes are highest, an hour with Nicole directly.
The whole journey. Not just the crisis.
Most caregiving advice covers one moment: the emergency. But caring for a parent is a years-long arc, and every stage has different decisions, different costs, and different mistakes waiting. Your Parents Keeper is the only resource built to cover all seven stages, from the first worrying signs to the years after loss.
The First Worry
Something's off. Small signs, big questions.
The Wake-Up Call
A fall, a diagnosis, a call that changes things.
The Scramble
Documents, money, legal, family roles, all at once.
Deep in It
The longest stage. Daily caregiving and your own limits.
The Narrowing
The arrangement stops holding. Fewer, harder options.
The Final Season
Comfort, dignity, and the conversations that matter.
After Loss
Grief, the estate, and finding your way back.
Wherever you are, we've mapped what comes next. Find your stage →

She could run a boardroom. She couldn't run her mother's care.
Nicole Hilgenkamp spent 30 years running complex operations for large corporations. Process optimization. Change management. Systems that worked. And when her own mother needed care, none of it prepared her.
She made the expensive mistakes. She missed the conversations that mattered. She learned the system the way most families do: by trial, error, and regret.
Then she did what she'd always done professionally: she turned the chaos into a system. Your Parents Keeper is that system, built so no other family has to learn the hard way.
What people say after talking with Nicole.
“Nicole’s compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping families navigate one of life’s hardest seasons. This conversation was so necessary. She started with a reality check: the paperwork you think you have covered probably isn’t enough. Ouch, but true.”
“She emphasizes having honest conversations with your parents while they’re still living independently, before you’re in crisis mode. She also reminded us that we can’t do this alone; we need a care team of people who can genuinely help. Book Nicole for honest, practical conversations about eldercare and preparing before you have to!”
“Nicole is a wealth of information on how to avoid the pitfalls of caretaking when it takes you by surprise. She has a checklist so you can see where you are in the preparedness category.”
“Even if your parents or elder siblings are fine today, what if something unexpected happens?”
Start with the checklist. It's free.
The "Before You Have To" Checklist: the 20 documents, decisions, and conversations every family needs handled before a crisis decides for them. Ten minutes to read. Years of regret prevented.

Questions families ask before they start.
Are you a home care agency? Will you send someone to my parent's house?
No, and we never will. We do not send aides, nurses, or companions. We are a caregiver education company. We teach you how to plan, decide, and manage the care, so that when you hire an agency, tour a facility, or sit down with a lawyer, you already know what to ask and what a good answer sounds like.
If any page here ever makes us look like an agency, something went wrong and we want to know about it.
How fast will I hear back from you?
Email to support@yourparentskeeper.com gets a reply within one business day. Concierge sessions are booked instantly on the scheduling page, and your written 30-day plan arrives within two business days of the call.
Inside the Compass Community, no question lives longer than seven days. Most get answered at the weekly live session or sooner in the group. The free checklist arrives by email within a few minutes of signing up.
We are a small operation, not a call center. If something is a genuine emergency tonight, call 911 or your parent's doctor first. Then come back and we will help you plan the next 30 days.
What does it cost?
The newsletter, the checklist, and the stage quiz are free. The Compass Community is $47 a month, or $394 a year which saves 30 percent, and that is where the weekly live webinar and the weekly support call live. The Caregiving Concierge is $197 one time: a private hour with Nicole plus a written 30-day plan.
If your first month of the Community does not pay for itself in answers, Nicole refunds it. The risk is hers. And you can cancel the day your caregiving journey ends. Nobody should pay for caregiving support after caregiving is over.
My parent is fine right now. Is it too early for this?
This is the best possible time. Every expensive mistake we teach around gets made by families who started the day the crisis hit. Paperwork signed while your parent can still sign it is worth more than anything you can do afterward.
Start with the free checklist. Ten minutes now saves a year of untangling later.
Do you work with families outside Nebraska?
Yes. Everything is virtual, so we work with families across the United States. Nicole is based in Blair, Nebraska, in the Omaha metro, and serves families nationwide by video and phone.
Care rules and benefit programs do vary by state. When your question is state specific, we tell you that plainly and point you to the right local office instead of guessing.
Can you tell me what to do about Medicare, the will, or my parent's medications?
We can explain how the systems work, what the words mean, what things typically cost, and what questions to bring. We cannot give you medical, legal, or financial advice, because that requires a licensed professional who knows your parent's specific situation.
Our job is to make sure you walk into that appointment prepared instead of nodding along and signing something you do not understand.
What actually happens after I give you my email?
You get the checklist, then one useful email a week. That is the whole arrangement. No daily drip, no pressure sequence, no phone calls you did not ask for.
Unsubscribe anytime with the link at the bottom of every email. We never sell or rent your address. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
I have siblings who disagree with me. Can this help with that?
That is one of the most common reasons families come to us. Most sibling conflict is not really about the parent. It is about unassigned roles, unclear money, and one person quietly carrying everything.
The guides include a family meeting agenda and a written role assignment. The Concierge exists for the situations where the conflict is already loud.
